An Oyo state based sociopolitical group, Omituntun Benedict Forum/Foundation (OBF) has commenced grassroots mobilisation for the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This was as the group renewed its call on members across the 33 local government areas of the state to work for the victory of the party across all elective positions.

The mobilisation drive gained momentum on Sunday, October 25, when the forum, founded by Oloye Benedict Akika, the Agbaakin of Olorunda-Abaa, received the APM governorship candidate in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi at the Omituntun House, Lakuru, Idi-Ape, Akobo, Ibadan.

The reception, held during the forum’s general meeting, which featured a solidarity road walk by members who turned out in large numbers to demonstrate their support for Adekanmbi and other candidates of the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Members of the group reaffirm their commitment to the political ideology of Governor Seyi Makinde, the APM presidential candidate, with particular emphasis on good governance, sustainable development and people-oriented leadership under the Omituntun ideology.

Representatives of the OBF Elders Forum, Widows Forum, Women and Youth groups took turns to highlight the forum’s activities in terms of mobilization drive and political engagements with critical stakeholders.

They commended the founder, Oloye Akika for his contributions to their welfare and progress, describing him as a dependable and supportive leader who had remained committed to the well-being of members.

Speaking at the event, Adekanmbi expressed appreciation to Oloye Akika and members of the forum for their loyalty, support and contributions over the years.

He described the OBF founder as a transformer and statesman who had earned his place through dedication, service and commitment to the people.

The governorship candidate also commended the resilience and organisational strength of the forum, assuring members that an inclusive administration would be a priority if he emerged victorious in the 2027 governorship election.

He said Akika and members of the organisation would have a place in his administration, while pledging to encourage other APM candidates to recognise and appreciate the forum’s steadfast support for the party.

Adekanmbi urged the members to intensify grassroots mobilisation to secure victory for the APM across all elective positions, stressing that their collective efforts would be critical to translating the party’s promises and aspirations into reality.

He specifically called on the forum to mobilise support for Makinde’s presidential ambition, his own governorship bid and other APM candidates contesting senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats.

According to him, victory at the polls would provide the platform for the party to implement its development agenda and fulfil its commitments to the people.

Earlier in his welcome address, Oloye Akika urged members to remain focused, united and steadfast in their support for the APM, warning against political inconsistency and frequent movement from one group or party to another.

He expressed confidence that the party would record electoral victories in 2027, adding that the dividends of good governance would reach members of the forum.

Oloye Akika reiterated the organisation’s support for Makinde as its preferred presidential candidate, Adekanmbi as its governorship candidate and all other APM candidates, urging members to sustain their mobilisation efforts until victory is secured at the polls.

The meeting had in attendance, OBF members from the 33 local government areas of the Oyo State, as well as support groups such as teachers, motorcycle and tricycle riders, representatives of the Hausa and Igede communities and other affiliated groups.

Also in attendance was the Director-General of the Youth, Makinde/Adekanmbi campaign structure, Hon. Kazeem Bolarinwa, alongside members of the Bimbo Adekanmbi Movement.
