The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, on Tuesday took his statewide consultation tour to Ibadan, where he engaged key stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the five local government areas that make up the metropolitan city, as momentum builds around his governorship aspiration ahead of 2027.
The high-level meeting, held at the PDP State Secretariat, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, brought together influential party leaders, government functionaries, and grassroots mobilisers from Ibadan North, Ibadan North-East, Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-East, and Ibadan South-West, in what was described as a significant consolidation of support within the party’s traditional stronghold.
Ogundoyin arrived the meeting in the company of prominent PDP leaders from Ibarapaland, including the lawmaker representing Ibarapa North/Central, Hon. Peter Ojedokun; the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo; former House of Representatives member, Hon. Yemi Taiwo; former Commissioner for Information and Culture, Hon. Moses Ojoawo; former Commissioner for Local Government, Hon. Funmilayo Orisadeyi; and former Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Majekodunmi Aborode, among others.
Addressing the party leaders and stakeholders, the Speaker unveiled his policy blueprint, IGBEGA OYO OMITUNTUN 3.0, which he said is designed to accelerate socio-economic development, strengthen institutions, and deepen inclusive governance across the state in line with the sustainable development agenda.
He stressed that his ambition is anchored on continuity, innovation, and a shared commitment to sustaining the achievements of the governor Seyi Makinde-led administration.
“I have come to consult, to listen, and to seek your support as critical stakeholders of our great party,” Ogundoyin said.
“Together, we can build on the progress already achieved by our amiable Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and take Oyo State to greater heights.
This ambition is not about me alone; it is about the future of our state and the collective responsibility we all share.”
He further assured party members that his leadership would prioritise people-oriented policies and inclusiveness, noting that his experience as Speaker has equipped him with the capacity to manage diverse interests and deliver effective governance.
In their separate remarks, PDP leaders in Ibadan commended the Speaker for what they described as his humility, political maturity, and methodical approach to consultations.
Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, the Oyo State Vice Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, praised Ogundoyin’s consistency and strategic engagement across all levels of the party structure.
“Your approach to this ambition is commendable. You have demonstrated seriousness, preparation, and respect for the party,” Adeleke said.
“The presentation of your IGBEGA OYO OMITUNTUN 3.0 clearly shows capacity and readiness for governance. Among the aspirants, you stand out as someone who has deliberately engaged every stratum of the PDP and articulated a clear roadmap for the future.”
Adeleke added that Ogundoyin’s appearance before the party’s screening committee with a detailed development agenda further reinforced confidence in his preparedness, describing the consultation drive as “structured, inclusive, and purposeful.”
Other notable stakeholders present at the meeting included High Chief Nureni Akanbi; Chief Ismaila Ashipa; Hon. Remi Ayoade of the Oyo State Advisory Council; the PDP South-West Women Leader, Alhaja Modinat Bose Adedibu; the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Toyin Balogun; as well as local government chairmen and PDP party chairmen from the five Ibadan LGAs.
