Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday visited the tomb of his late mother, Chief Mrs. Abigail Omojolagbe Makinde at St. Peters Cathedral, Aremo, where he laid wreath and offered special prayers.
Being an annual practice since the passing of the governor’s mother, Makinde, accompanied by some state functionaries and political leaders offered special prayers at the tomb of the deceased.
Very Reverend Samuel Adewoyin of St Peters Cathedral, Aremo, conducted the special prayers.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after laying of wreathe, Governor Makinde, who reflected on the profound impact of his late mother said, although it has not been easy without her but the family is comforted by the legacies she left behind.
Governor Makinde described his mother as a pillar of strength and the ‘chief wealth distributor of the family’, whose unwavering support shaped his values and aspirations.
“It hasn’t been easy since her passing, but we find solace in the lessons she imparted and the legacies she left behind.
The governor recounted how his late mother instilled a love and compassion for others in him and how she effectively managed resources within the family.
Present at the brief remembrance were the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ogun state in the 2023 general election, Prince Ladi Adebutu, PDP chieftain in Oyo state, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, and others.
