The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Oyo State Chapter, has expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his recent appointment of selected local government staff as Permanent Secretaries.
The President of NULGE in Oyo state, Comrade Ayobami Adeogun, gave the commendation in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday, January 4.
The action, according to the union, reinforces Makinde’s commitment to grassroots development and his recognition of merit within the local government system.
According to Comrade Adeogun, the new appointees elevated to the rank of Permanent Secretaries include local government sector: Akinwale Olufemi Akindele, Mr. Oduola Adeola Omoyemi, Bamigbose Olanrewaju Alani, Busari Amusat Adekunle, Hazmat Kafilat Adefunke, Oguntona Thomas Oladele, Atoyebi Adedapo Olumuyiwa, and Olusola-Jimoh Tolulope Adebanke in health sector.
This development comes just three months after the historic commissioning of the Local Government House, which according to Comrade Adeogun, has further cemented Governor Makinde’s legacy as a visionary leader dedicated to institutional reforms and grassroots empowerment.
“By elevating experienced and competent personnel from within the local government system, Governor Makinde has reaffirmed his belief in professionalism, meritocracy, and the critical role of the local government workforce in driving sustainable development across Oyo State.” The Oyo NULGE President said.
Comrade Adeogun equally praised the governor for his strategic approach to governance, describing the appointments as “a monumental step” that will inspire confidence and efficiency within the local government sector.
He noted further that the decision reflects Governor Makinde’s trust in the system’s potential to deliver impactful governance and his dedication to inclusivity in state leadership.
“As a Union representing the interests and welfare of Local Government employees, we pledge our unwavering support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
“We also call on all appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by performing their duties with integrity, diligence, and a clear sense of purpose,” Comrade Adeogun added.
The Oyo NULGE leadership assured the Governor of its commitment to ensuring a disciplined and efficient workforce that aligns with the vision of sustainable development for the people of Oyo State.
