The Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Interfaith Affairs, Rev. Femi Ibikunle, has congratulated Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle “Don” and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on their resounding victory in the just concluded Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election.

Rev. Ibikunle, in a statement personally signed on Sunday, described the victory as a testament to the confidence the people of Ibadan North reposed in the leadership style of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde and the PDP family.

He noted that Oyekunle’s emergence would further strengthen the voice of the constituency at the National Assembly and give the people more visibility on the national stage.

Ibikunle who noted that the outcome of the election has reinforced the trust and confidence reposed in the leadership of governor Seyi Makinde maintained that the PDP will continue to rule Oyo state for many years to come.

“This landslide victory is a clear indication that the people believe in good governance and progressive representation as against media propaganda.

“The result of this election is testament to the fact that Nigerians are only frustrated with bad leadership not party. So, it is not a question of what the politicians are saying about the PDP, it’s about what the people, the electorates and real owners of the mandate are saying.

“Hon. Oyekunle has proven his commitment to grassroots development, and I am confident he will justify the mandate given to him,” Rev. Ibikunle said.

The governor’s aide also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as a free, fair, and credible election.

He praised security agencies, party stakeholders, and voters for ensuring a peaceful atmosphere throughout the exercise.

Rev. Ibikunle urged Oyekunle to remain accessible to his constituents, focus on youth empowerment, education, and poverty alleviation, while also aligning his legislative duties with Governor Makinde’s developmental agenda.

“This election outcome has clearly laid the debate to rest that Oyo state is firmly and securely under the control of His Excellency, governor Seyi Makinde and we know and believe that 2027 will not be any different from another resounding victory.

“With this victory, Ibadan North is assured of purposeful representation. I pray for God’s wisdom and guidance for Hon. Oyekunle in the discharge of his duties,” he added.

The by-election, held on Saturday, saw the PDP candidate defeat his closest rival, Adewale Olatunji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with a wide margin across polling units, reaffirming the dominance of the ruling party in Oyo State.
