The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has congratulated Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as Don, on his landslide victory in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday.
Unavoidably out of the country at the moment on legislative duties, Ogundoyin, who doubles as the Chairman, Nigeria Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures, specifically lauded governor Seyi Makinde for his pragmatic and visionary leadership that has continued endear PDP to the masses regardless of the false propaganda.
He equally commended the leadership of the party in the state particularly in Ibadan North federal constituency for the effective coordination of human and material resources for the resounding electoral victory.
The Speaker gave these commendations in a statement on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Communication, Oyetunji Oyekunle.
The Speaker described the triumph as both “well-deserved and a strong affirmation of the people’s trust in Don’s capacity, competence, and credibility.”
Ogundoyin, who recalled Oyekunle’s days in the Oyo State House of Assembly, commended his record of service, expressing confidence in his ability to do more for his people at the green chamber of the National Assembly.
“Don was an outstanding lawmaker during his time in the House. His contributions to legislative debates, his commitment to his constituents, and his loyalty to the ideals of the PDP were evident to all. His victory is a testament to hard work, humility, and consistency,” the Speaker noted.
Until his emergence as the PDP candidate, Oyekunle served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, a position in which Ogundoyin said he distinguished himself with diligence and political maturity.
The Speaker stressed that his elevation to the House of Representatives is a reflection of the people’s appreciation for his service and their belief in his ability to deliver more dividends of democracy.
He also lauded Governor Seyi Makinde and the leadership of the PDP in Oyo State for steering the party to yet another electoral triumph.
“This victory is more than a win; it is a statement that the people recognize good governance above false political propaganda when they see it,” Ogundoyin declared.
The Speaker further congratulated the people of Ibadan North for “making the right choice and reclaiming the federal constituency seat for the PDP for the first time since 2011.”
While urging Oyekunle to remain focused, humble, and people-driven in his legislative duties, Ogundoyin pledged the continued support of the Oyo State House of Assembly.
“I have no doubt that Hon. Don will once again serve the people with passion and purpose as well as deliver on his mandate,” he affirmed.
