A gospel music singer, Babatunmise Agboola, has described Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, as a leader whose actions and results speak louder than words.
Agboola, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of The Best Event Company, made this known during an interview with The People’s Verdict.
According to the gospel crooner, Governor Makinde is a man of action who prefers to let his achievements do the talking.
“Governor ‘Seyi Makinde is an action-driven man who does not talk too much, and some of us have learnt a lot from that. He just allows the actions and the results to speak.
“In my few years on earth, I have learnt that nobody argues with result and the result is showing,” Agboola said.
Speaking on the effects of the Makinde-led administration on his industry, Agboola noted significant improvements in infrastructure and security, which have positively influenced businesses.
“I am in the events world and I sing as well. One cannot but mention how good the roads are now. It is easier to navigate, to move in and out of town. With that, our job gets easier.
“Even the night life in the city is a lot better now. We now have malls running 24 hours in the city. Before now, it was never like that. Of course, if the security and the roads were not good enough, all of that would not thrive,” he said.
He added that the enabling environment has boosted revenue for service providers.
“Before now it was not easy to charge what you are worth. But all of that has changed. People are now paying for value. Ibadan is no longer what it used to be. If you don’t move fast, Ibadan will leave you behind,” he stressed.
Agboola, who hails from Oritamerin in Ibadan, expressed pride in the transformation of the city.
“Somebody came into the city recently and said, ‘Mo fe e sonu (I almost got lost), Ibadan has changed.’ I am a proper Ibadan boy, I have been here all my life, and I have seen the change. I am glad that I am still here to witness it,” he remarked.
The singer also commended Governor Makinde for giving young people opportunities in governance.
“He made a young person Commissioner for Youth and Sports. That has encouraged some of us that we are not just among the number, we are part of the government. It means that the government is thinking about us,” he said.
Agboola revealed that the administration provided him with his first opportunity to perform at a government function through the Omituntun Praise Concert.
“For the first time, I was able to perform at a government function in Oyo State. That idea gave me visibility.
“The last edition was televised live on BCOS TV, and after that, a lot of people reached out to me. It has added value to my brand and increased my worth,” he explained.
Summing up his views, Agboola described Governor Makinde as a blessing to Oyo State.
“The enabling environment for us to thrive also does it for me. The current administration has done very well, from pensions and gratuities for retirees to infrastructural development.
“We can say that because of what we have benefitted from, Governor Makinde has done really well. It can only get better and better. Governor ‘Seyi Makinde is a go-getter who does not talk too much,” he concluded.
