The Sola Olagunju Foundation (SOF) has commenced activities preceding its 20th anniversary in commemoration of two-decade-long commitment to philanthropy, human capital development, and community support services.
According to her, the grand finale slated for tomorrow will feature former Special Assistant on Community Relation to Oyo state governor, Hon. Femi Josiah, and the Special Assistant on Interfaith Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde as special guests.
As part of activities to commemorate the milestone, the foundation has announced that it is awarding full scholarships to 10 children among other charity programs.
It is also empowering several widows with financial and material support, and will provided free food to hundreds of destitute and vulnerable people at different parts of Ibadan metropolis.
The Founder and Chairperson of the Foundation, Ambassador Sola Olagunju confirmed this to Westernmirror.com.ng on Monday shortly after a visit of the leadership of the Foundation to five selected orphanage in Ibadan.
Speaking, Amb. Olagunju, expressed gratitude to God and SOF management team for their support over the years, noting that the foundation’s vision has remained consistent—transforming lives through sustainable interventions.
“When we started 20 years ago, the dream was simple: to be a light to those who might otherwise be forgotten by society including destitute and persons living with disabilities.
“We want to use our foundation to close the gap created by socio-economic disparity leaving many below the poverty ladder while others are either vulnerable as a result of being underprivileged.
Today, seeing young people who benefited from our scholarships now becoming professionals and widows starting businesses to fend for their families gives me so much joy,” she said.
The scholarships, which cover tuition, books, and other educational materials, were awarded to children from the five selected orphanages, ensuring they can pursue their education without financial barriers.
The widows empowerment scheme will provide beneficiaries with seed capital, equipment, and skill acquisition opportunities to promote self-reliance and financial independence.
In addition, the foundation also organized a free feeding program that catered to street children, homeless individuals, and other vulnerable groups during it’s outreach on Monday at Yemetu area of Ibadan and its environs.
The anniversary celebration grand finale will hold tomorrow, September 9 at the Foundation state office located at 31 A, Adenuga street, Kongi, bodija Ibadan.
Highlights of the event will also feature thanksgiving service, cultural displays, and tributes from past beneficiaries.
