The political stature of the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, continues to rise as the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) conferred on him the Visionary Leadership Award in recognition of his contributions to youth empowerment, inclusive governance, and educational advancement.

The award, presented during a dinner hosted by the Speaker in honour of the NANS President today, Comrade Olushola Oladoja, and student leaders from various tertiary institutions across Oyo State, further cements Ogundoyin’s growing reputation as one of the leading young political figures redefining public service in Nigeria.

In a post on his official Facebook page, the Speaker described the evening as one that celebrated dialogue, collaboration, and shared commitment to the future of education.

“Last night, I had the honour of hosting a special dinner in honour of the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Olushola Oladoja.

“The gathering was made even more memorable by the presence of Presidents of Students’ Unions from all tertiary institutions in Oyo State including young, vibrant minds passionate about advocacy, education, and progressive leadership.”

He revealed that the discussions centred on strengthening the relationship between the legislature and the student community, particularly through legislative interventions aimed at improving student welfare, campus safety, and access to quality education.

The high point of the evening was the formal presentation of the Visionary Leadership Award to Ogundoyin by the NANS National Headquarters, an honour the Speaker said left him “deeply humbled” and even more determined to advance youth-focused governance.

“I am deeply humbled by this recognition and even more committed to championing youth development, inclusive governance, and policies that elevate the voices of students across Nigeria. Thank you, NANS, for this honour. Together, we build the future,” he added.

Ogundoyin’s recognition by NANS adds to a growing list of commendations and honours that have trailed his leadership in recent months.

Earlier this year, he received the Youth-In-Politics Excellence Award from a coalition of civil society groups and was similarly acknowledged by the Oyo State Youth Parliament for his consistent advocacy for youth participation in governance.

This online newspaper reports that the multiple recognitions by notable bodies reflect both his political maturity and the wider appeal of his leadership style, particularly among young people who see in him a bridge between governance and a generation eager to be part of shaping Nigeria’s future.
