Hon. Ademola Adejumobi, popularly known as Agbarapo, Special Adviser on Legislative Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to Hon. Ogunrinde John Olatunji, former Vice Chairman of Atisbo Local Government, to retract what he described as “malicious, damaging, and baseless allegations” or face legal action.
The controversy erupted after a viral Facebook video surfaced showing Ogunrinde levelling several accusations against Agbarapo, including claims of murder, ritual practices, and financial impropriety.
Speaking entirely in Yoruba, Ogunrinde alleged that Agbarapo once used his own younger sister, a prophetess named Doyin, for ritual purposes to extort huge sums of money from the late former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala.
In the same video, Ogunrinde also accused Agbarapo of mobilizing armed thugs from Ibadan to attack residents during an empowerment programme held at the First Baptist Church in Atisbo, alleging that the hoodlums carted away empowerment materials back to Ibadan.
He went further to claim that Agbarapo had defrauded a political aspirant, Hon. Sola Otunla, of millions of naira during a previous local government election cycle.
According to Agbarapo, Ogunrinde’s comments, which he claimed were in response to a publication attributed to him (Agbarapo), have since sparked outrage and mixed feelings across Oke-Ogun’s political circles.
Agbarapo said the tone and substance of Ogunrinde’s video were not only inflammatory but false and malicious with intent to damage his hard work of many years.
In his reaction, Agbarapo, speaking through a voice note obtained by Westernmirror.com.ng on Friday, November 7, dismissed all the allegations as “politics taken too far.”
He described the video as a calculated attempt to assassinate his character and smear his long-standing reputation as a politician, community leader, businessman, and Christian gospel minister.
“I have lived my entire life building bridges of goodwill across Atisbo and beyond. To be falsely accused of using my own sister for ritual is not only heartbreaking but deeply evil.
“Such reckless statements go beyond politics. They attack the very core of my faith, my family, and my integrity,” Agbarapo stated.
The former Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly revealed that he has made significant investments in Atisbo in hospitality, oil, and gas, all aimed at creating jobs and improving local livelihoods.
He lamented that such defamatory statements now threaten to tarnish his reputation and undermine years of public service and local government engagement at the grassroots.
“I understand how political seasons often breed misinformation, but this is different. When someone goes on social media to accuse you of ritual murder without a shred of evidence or atom of truth, it’s not politics anymore, it’s defamation, and it carries legal consequences.”
Agbarapo attributed the smear campaign to loyalists of Senator Hosea Agboola, popularly known as Halleluyah, with whom he has had longstanding ideological disagreements.
He clarified that his criticisms of Agboola were based purely on political principles and his belief that Oke-Ogun’s developmental interests had been neglected for personal political gains for too long.
“I have no personal animosity toward Senator Agboola. Our differences are political, not personal. I have always stood for Oke-Ogun’s progress and equity in the distribution of state resources,” he said.
In a firm response to the viral video, Agbarapo issued a seven-day ultimatum to Ogunrinde, effective November 7, 2025, demanding a full and unreserved retraction of the allegations and a public apology to be published in at least one national newspaper and three reputable online news platforms.
Failure to comply, he warned, would compel him to institute legal proceedings to seek redress for defamation and reputational damage.
While Agbarapo expressed deep emotional distress over the allegations, he maintained that his loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration remains unwavering.
He described Makinde’s leadership as “transformative,” noting that the governor’s policies have brought unprecedented development to Oke-Ogun and positioned the region as a key player in Oyo State’s growth story.
