The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has praised the commissioning of the Ibadan Central Bus Terminal as a vivid demonstration of what visionary leadership can achieve through consistency and courage.
Speaking at the official ceremony held at Iwo Road, Ibadan, an event graced by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Ogundoyin described the project as a triumph of foresight and perseverance over short-term discomfort.
According to him, the terminal’s completion is proof that meaningful progress often comes with sacrifices.
“There is no development without pain. The pain of yesterday has become the joy of today.
“This monumental edifice is proof that Governor Makinde’s vision is not just transformational but impactful.
This terminal will improve mobility, ease congestion, and boost local commerce. To our people in Oyo State, I say, stay hopeful, better days are here.”
Ogundoyin acknowledged that the project, which began several years ago under Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, had stirred public concern and disrupted business activities in the Iwo Road axis.
Yet, he noted, the completion of the terminal vindicates the governor’s developmental strategy and commitment to building sustainable urban infrastructure.
He commended Makinde for maintaining focus on modernization through strategic investments across the state, describing the new terminal as more than a transport hub but a symbol of order, growth, and renewal.
“The Oyo State House of Assembly will continue to stand behind this administration. As long as the vision is to uplift our people and modernize our state, we will remain a solid pillar of support.”
Now fully completed and operational, the Ibadan Central Bus Terminal stands as one of the flagship projects under the Oyo State Transport Modernization Plan, a landmark, the Speaker said, that reminds citizens that real progress demands patience, resilience, and trust in leadership.
