An Itesiwaju-born, Abuja-based politician, Ajayi Taiwo Oluwole, has said that no amount of blackmail or sponsored disinformation can derail the administration of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde amid what he called ongoing transformation of the state.
This was as he insisted that the governor’s record in office remains firmly etched in the state’s history.
Oluwole, who spoke in a statement on Monday, described politics as a terrain often marked by hostility, falsehoods and personal attacks.
The media guru cum philanthropist, argued that such tactics ultimately fail against verifiable performance and public trust as being recorded in Oyo state.
Quoting late Russian-Soviet writer Maxim Gorky, he said politics often provides fertile ground for “poisonous enmity, evil suspicions, shameless lies, slander, morbid ambitions, and disrespect for the individual,” adding that these tendencies become more pronounced during intense political struggles.
According to him, recent criticisms and allegations targeted at Governor Makinde should be understood within that context, noting that they form part of what he described as deliberate attempts to distract from governance and distort public perception.
“No amount of blackmail, calculated and sponsored disinformation can erase the good work and the good name of Governor Seyi Makinde, in the history of Oyo State,” the statement read.
He maintained that the Makinde administration’s policies and projects across key sectors of the state’s development would continue to speak louder than what he termed politically motivated narratives, stressing that history and the judgment of the people would ultimately prevail.
The politician urged residents of Oyo State, particularly Itesiwaju area of Oke-ogun geopolitical zone to remain focused on issues of governance and development.
He called on political actors to engage in issue-based discourse rather than personal attacks as another electoral cycle beckons.
He added that leadership should be assessed by tangible outcomes and long-term impact, not by what he described as transient noise generated by political rivalry.
