The Ibadan House of Lords, a foremost sociocultural organization in the state, has commended Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and its Grand Patron, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, for what it described as the successful and dignified celebration of the 50th anniversary of the creation of Oyo State.
In a statement on Tuesday in Ibadan, the group said the golden jubilee celebration reflected the depth of coordination, planning, unity of purpose and respect for history that have continued to define the state under the current administration.
The House of Lords noted that the anniversary activities not only honoured the founding ideals of Oyo State but also showcased its steady progress and cultural heritage, adding that the state remains firmly positioned as a pacesetter in governance, development and social cohesion.
According to the statement, the leadership roles played by Governor Makinde and the Olubadan were central to the success of the celebration, as both demonstrated commitment to inclusiveness, tradition and the collective identity of the people of Oyo State.
The group described the Ibadan House of Lords as a club exclusively for men of Ibadan paternal origin, comprising individuals of proven integrity and a strong sense of responsibility, united by a shared commitment to the advancement of Ibadanland and Oyo State at large.
It further expressed confidence that the developmental trajectory of the state would be sustained beyond the anniversary celebrations, urging stakeholders to continue supporting policies and initiatives that promote peace, stability and progress.
The House of Lords congratulated the government and the people of Oyo State on the milestone, stressing that the golden jubilee should serve as a moment of reflection and renewed dedication to the values that have kept the state in the forefront since its creation in 1976.
