A campaign poster suggesting a possible governorship ambition of the Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, ahead of the 2027 general elections has surfaced on social media.

The poster, which began circulating online on Thursday, prominently features Ogunwuyi and hints at a potential bid for the Oyo State governorship seat in 2027.

Though the source of the poster remains unclear, it has quickly drawn attention from political party supporters.

Ogunwuyi currently serves as the Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, a role that places him at the centre of the administration’s political and policy coordination.

Before his appointment, he represented Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Orire Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The appearance of the poster is coming amid growing political permutations within the state as stakeholders begin early positioning for the 2027 governorship race.

Governor Makinde had earlier in the week directed his political appointees with elective aspirations ahead of 2027 to make public their desires.

Governor Makinde, who is serving his second term, will complete his tenure in 2027 and is constitutionally ineligible to seek re-election.

As of the time of filing this report, Ogunwuyi had not issued any official statement confirming or denying involvement in the poster.

Similarly, there has been no formal declaration of interest from him regarding the 2027 governorship contest.

However, sources within the ruling party in the state noted that discussions around possible successors to Governor Makinde have intensified in recent months, with several prominent figures being mentioned in political calculations.
