The Chairman of Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration (MRMR) Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Chief Lukman Oyebisi ILAKA, has called on Muslim faithful to uphold the values of peace, unity, and compassion imbibed during the holy month of Ramadan.
In his message marking the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr on Friday, Ilaka urged Muslims across Oyo State and Nigeria at large not to abandon the virtues of tolerance, sacrifice, and love for humanity cultivated during the fasting period.
He noted that the essence of Ramadan goes beyond abstinence from food and drink, stressing that its true significance lies in fostering harmony, strengthening faith, and promoting peaceful coexistence among citizens, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
“Eid-el-Fitr is not just a celebration but a reminder of the enduring values of patience, humility, and kindness.
“As we mark this occasion, I urge all Muslims to sustain these virtues in their daily lives and continue to promote unity within and across our beloved state,” he said.
Ilaka also emphasized the need for continuous prayers for Nigeria and its leaders at all levels, noting that the country is at a critical stage where collective support and divine guidance are essential for progress and stability.
According to him, “Our leaders require wisdom, strength, and integrity to navigate the challenges facing the nation.
“It is our collective responsibility as citizens to support them through prayers and constructive engagement.”
The ADC chieftain further encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and extend acts of charity to the less privileged, in line with the teachings of Islam.
He expressed optimism that with sustained commitment to peace, unity, and good governance, Nigeria would overcome its current challenges and move towards a more prosperous future.
Ilaka went on to wish Muslim faithful a joyous and peaceful Eid celebration, urging them to celebrate responsibly and in accordance with the values of the season.
