The Special Assistant on Interfaith Affairs to the Governor of Oyo State, Rev. Femi Ibikunle, has been honoured with the Oyo State Interfaith Diplomacy Award.
The award was in recognition of his contributions to promoting religious harmony, peaceful coexistence, and conflict resolution across the state.
The award was presented by Orodoro Media Concept during a brief presentation held on March 22, 2026, in Rev Ibikunle’s office where the organization acknowledged his role in promoting understanding among different religious groups and providing strategic guidance to government on matters relating to faith and community relations.
According to the citation accompanying the award, the cleric was recognised for his “outstanding contributions towards successfully resolving religious tension and conflicts in communities, demonstrating fairness and respect to all faith groups in Oyo State, and providing sound counselling to government on religious matters.”
The recognition comes amid growing efforts by the Oyo State Government to strengthen interfaith dialogue and sustain peaceful relations among adherents of various religions in the state.
Speaking after receiving the award, Rev. Ibikunle expressed appreciation to the organisers for the honour, describing it as a call to greater service and commitment to the ideals of peace, unity, and mutual respect.
He noted that the award was not only a personal achievement but also a reflection of the collective efforts of religious leaders, community stakeholders, and the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde in ensuring that Oyo State remains a model of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
The governor’s aide reaffirmed his commitment to deepening engagement among Christian, Muslim, and traditional religious communities, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and understanding.
He further urged religious leaders across the state to continue promoting messages of unity and discouraging actions capable of causing division among residents.
