The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has confirmed the abduction of two of its staff members in Ogun State, raising fresh concerns over the safety of utility workers in the region.
In a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan by the Holding Company, the firm disclosed that the incident occurred on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, within its Ogun operational area.
IBEDC expressed deep concern over the development, noting that the welfare of the affected employees remains a top priority.
“Our thoughts are with our colleagues and their families at this difficult time,” the company stated, while reflecting the anxiety surrounding the incident.
The electricity distribution firm added that it is working closely with relevant security agencies to secure the safe release of the abducted staff.
It also confirmed that it has maintained active engagement with the families of the victims, offering necessary support as efforts continue behind the scenes.
While the circumstances surrounding the abduction remain unclear, IBEDC emphasized that the sensitive nature of the situation limits the details it can disclose publicly for now.
