Former Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Legislative Matters, Hon. Adejumobi Samuel, popularly known as Agbarapo, has commended the governor’s financial prudence and foresight in governance, describing his approach as worthy of academic study.
Agbarapo was reacting to the state government’s recent approval of multi-billion-naira infrastructure projects, including the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the 13.6 km Ojoo Interchange–IITA–Moniya Junction–Akinyele Interchange road.
Speaking with westernmirror.com.ng on Thursday, he said the governor has once again shown courage and discipline in managing Oyo State’s economy despite the harsh financial climate across the country.
He particularly praised Governor Makinde for opening up the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone to the rest of the state, noting that the administration’s investment in road infrastructure was enhancing economic activities and improving access to the state capital.
According to him, the decision to channel part of the recently approved ₦300 billion loan into capital projects while refinancing existing obligations reflects “rare courage and intelligence in public financial management.”
“Governor Seyi Makinde has consistently proven that public resources, when managed with sincerity and prudence, can yield visible and impactful results.
The Ojoo–IITA–Moniya–Akinyele Interchange project and other road interventions approved by the Executive Council will not only open up Ibadan but also stimulate growth in agribusiness, commerce, and social activities across the state,” Agbarapo said.
The Special Adviser stressed that the spread of infrastructural projects across all zones demonstrated the administration’s commitment to inclusive development.
He added that rural communities would now enjoy better access to markets, education, and healthcare services.
Agbarapo also described the Acting Governor as a replica of Governor Makinde, commending his record as a legal professional, former Attorney-General of Oyo State, and now as a politician.
He urged residents and stakeholders to continue supporting the administration, assuring them that the projects would be delivered within the stipulated timelines and to high-quality standards.
“From dualising strategic roads to completing abandoned projects and even factoring in sports development through support for the U-20 women’s national football team, this government has continued to show balance in governance.
“It is about building for the present while securing the future of Oyo State,” he added.
This newspaper reports that Agbarapo’s comments align with widespread commendations trailing Tuesday’s announcement by the Executive Council, which also approved multi-billion-naira projects in Oke-Ogun, Ibarapa, and other zones of the state.
