The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl while reaffirming its stance against sexual violence and crimes involving minors.
DSP AYANLADE Olayinka, the Oyo State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) revealed this in a statement on behalf of the Police Command on Tuesday evening.
The incident according to the Police statement, was reported on December 25, 2025, at about 7:00 pm at the Alakia Adelubi Police Division.
The police stated that preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect, identified as Daniel Ajibola, allegedly assaulted the victim after giving her an intoxicating drink.
The suspect has been taken into custody and is said to have made a confessional statement.
Following the report, the victim was immediately taken to a hospital for medical examination, while officers visited the scene as part of initial investigative procedures.
In view of the gravity of the offence, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Femi Haruna, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a discreet and thorough investigation.
The police authorities also directed that the suspect be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police also warned that the Command will not tolerate any form of violence against women or minors, stressing that offenders will be made to face the full weight of the law.
He also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his guidance and support, noting that it has strengthened the Command’s capacity to maintain law and order.
The Oyo State Police Command assured residents of its continued commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state, while urging members of the public to provide credible information that can aid crime prevention and detection.
