The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, has expressed deep appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State Government for the posthumous honour bestowed on his late father, Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin, during the grand finale of the Oyo at 50 celebrations.
The Golden Jubilee Gala and Award Night, held on Tuesday night at the newly Government House Banquet Hall, Ibadan, marked a historic close to activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the creation of Oyo State.
Westernmirror.com.ng reports that major highlight of the event was the presentation of Oyo Merit Awards to individuals and personalities whose contributions have played significant roles in shaping the growth and development of the state over the past five decades.
Speaking on the honour, the Speaker described the moment as rare, emotional, and deeply meaningful to the Ogundoyin family, noting that his late father was recognised among distinguished awardees whose legacies have endured across generations.
According to him, members of the family, led by his elder brother, Adewole Ogundoyin, were present to receive the posthumous award on behalf of their late father.
Ogundoyin expressed profound gratitude to the state government for acknowledging the service, legacy, and lasting impact of Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin, describing the recognition as a reminder that selfless service to society never goes unnoticed.
The Speaker also commended the overall organisation of the Golden Jubilee celebration, noting that the evening was further enlivened by a spectacular air show that added colour and excitement to the historic occasion.
Reflecting on the milestone, Ogundoyin said the 50th anniversary celebration had reinforced his optimism about the future of the state.
As Oyo marks fifty years of progress, he said, there is renewed inspiration from the past, pride in the present, and strong hope for an even greater future for generations yet unborn.
He congratulated the government and people of the State on the successful celebration of the golden jubilee, wishing the state continued peace, development, and prosperity.
