The Chairman of the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board and former two term member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Abiodun Awoleye, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State Government for what he described as a well planned, coordinated, well dignified and colourful celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of Oyo State.

Awoleye gave the commendation on Tuesday in Ibadan while reacting to the weeklong activities organised to celebrate the golden jubilee of the state.

According to him, the anniversary celebration was not only rich in culture and history but also reflective of the inclusive and people centred governance style of the Makinde administration.

He said the event showcased Oyo State as a pacesetter, noting that the blend of thanksgiving services, cultural displays, intellectual engagements and state wide participation affirmed the depth of thought that went into the celebration.

“The Oyo at 50 celebration was colourful, classy and deeply symbolic. It reminded us of where we are coming from and, more importantly, where we are headed as a people.

“I commend Governor Seyi Makinde and his organizing team for putting together a celebration that truly reflects the pride, resilience and progress of Oyo State,” Awoleye said.

The former federal lawmaker added that beyond the festivities, the anniversary provided an opportunity for sober reflection on the sacrifices of past leaders and the responsibility of the present generation to sustain development and unity in the state.

He noted that the celebration also projected Oyo State positively on the national stage, describing it as a statement of stability, cultural richness and purposeful leadership.

Awoleye further praised the governor for maintaining continuity in governance and for using the milestone to highlight achievements recorded in infrastructure, healthcare, education and security across the state.

In his words, “Oyo at 50 was not just a celebration. It was a reaffirmation of our collective resolve to build a state that works for everyone.

“The Makinde administration has once again demonstrated that governance can be visionary, inclusive and impactful.”

Westernmirror.com.ng reports that the golden jubilee celebration featured thanksgiving services across faiths, cultural exhibitions, parades and the participation of traditional rulers, political leaders, civil servants and residents from across the state.
