The initiator of Igbega Oyo, a non-governmental organisation, Dr. Usman Bakare, has congratulated His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, on his official confirmation as the 44th Olubadan-designate of Ibadanland.
Governor Seyi Makinde had on Thursday approved Oba Ladoja’s nomination, following the unanimous decision of members of the Olubadan-in-Council.
In a personally signed congratulatory message, Dr. Bakare described the development as a welcome one for the people of Ibadanland, noting that it reaffirmed the sanctity of the cherished Ibadan traditional system.
He expressed gratitude to God for enabling Oba Ladoja to overcome the hurdles on his path to the throne, stressing that the nomination and confirmation marked the fulfillment of his long-standing destiny to ascend the stool of his forefathers.
Dr. Bakare also commended Governor Makinde for prioritising the interest of Ibadanland and granting timely approval to the nomination.
Highlighting Oba Ladoja’s unique profile, he said the Olubadan-designate stands out as the first to have served as a Senator, a former governor of Oyo State, a high chief who rose through the ranks, and a successful business mogul.
He, therefore, urged chiefs, indigenes, and residents of Ibadan to rally round the incoming monarch to ensure a smooth enthronement and a successful reign that would bring further progress and development to the ancient city.
“I want to sincerely congratulate our dear father and king, the Olubadan-designate of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, on his confirmation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland by the governor and members of the Olubadan-in-Council.
My appeal, however, is that it is incumbent on all Ibadan sons and daughters to support Oba Ladoja towards ensuring a hitch-free coronation and a successful reign,” Dr. Bakare stated.
He prayed for divine guidance, wisdom, and strength for the newly confirmed monarch, wishing him a prosperous and fulfilling reign.
