A media expert and politician from Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Ajayi Taiwo Oluwole, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Oluwole cited unresolved internal crises and persistent legal challenges within the party structure as some of the reasons for his resignation.
Oluwole announced his resignation in a letter dated May 7, 2026, addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward 4, Komu, Itesiwaju Local Government Area.
The former PDP chieftain described the decision as difficult, noting that he had devoted resources, time and effort to the growth and ideals of the party over the years.
“I hereby tender my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately. This decision has not been an easy one, as I have valued the opportunity given me to serve and contribute to the ideals and objectives of the party,” he stated.
He explained that the lingering internal wranglings and unresolved disputes within the PDP had made it impossible for him to continue his membership in good conscience.
“Due to the unresolved internal crisis and persistent challenges within the party structure, I find it difficult to continue my membership in good conscience,” Oluwole said.
According to him, repeated efforts geared towards restoring peace, reconciliation, stability and unity within the party failed to address the underlying issues.
“Despite several efforts and hopes for peace, reconciliation and stability, the lingering issues have made it impossible for me to function effectively or pursue my political aspirations under the current circumstances,” he added.
Oluwole, however, expressed appreciation to party leaders, members and supporters for the relationships and experiences he gained during his time in the PDP.
“I remain grateful for the relationships built and the experiences gained during my time in the party, and I sincerely hope that the party will find lasting unity and progress in the future,” he stated.
Subsequently, the Itesiwaju LG-born media expert also formally declared his alignment with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), saying the decision was guided by principle, vision and commitment to public service.
“Today, I stand before you with unwavering conviction and a clear conscience to declare my full commitment and dedication to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM),” he said.
“This is not a decision driven by ambition, convenience, or personal gain. It is a decision rooted in vision, principle, and responsibility to the people we serve.”
Oluwole further pledged his commitment to good governance, equity and people-oriented leadership.
“I remain committed to the pursuit of good governance, equity, development, and genuine service to the people of Itesiwaju local government and Oyo state as whole at all times,” he added.
