The Presidential Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has received an award from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in recognition of his leadership character.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Interfaith Affairs, Reverend Femi Ibikunle, who was in Makinde’s entourage, confirmed this to westernmirror.com.ng on Saturday.

Makinde was among dignitaries who gathered at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of CAN, alongside the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, and other party leaders and members.

The Oyo State governor was honoured with an Icon Award, described by the organisers as recognition of his Godly character in leadership.

The award was presented as part of activities marking the association’s golden jubilee, which brought together Christian leaders, political office holders and other stakeholders to reflect on CAN’s five decades of engagement in Nigeria.

Makinde’s presence at the event alongside the APM national leadership also reflects the party’s participation in the anniversary celebration.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, established in 1976, is the umbrella body representing various Christian denominations and organisations across the country.
