The Director-General of the Oyo State Women Wing of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Apex Campaign Committee and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ramata Agberemi Dabor, popularly known as RAD, congratulated the newly appointed Iyaloja-General of Oyo State, Princess Abeo, and the Babaloja-General, Y. K. Abass, describing their emergence as the dawn of a new era of development for commerce in the state.
Dabor, in her congratulatory message, said the appointments represented an important step towards strengthening the traditional market leadership structure, promoting economic growth and improving the welfare of traders across Oyo State.
She expressed confidence that the new market leaders would bring their experience, influence and commitment to bear on efforts to build a more organised, inclusive and prosperous trading environment.
According to her, the positions of Iyaloja-General and Babaloja-General carry significant responsibilities, considering the strategic role traders and market associations play in the state’s economic development.
RAD urged Princess Abeo and Alhaji Abass to see their appointments as a call to greater service and an opportunity to deepen cooperation between market leaders, traders and the state government.
She also encouraged them to prioritise the interests of traders, promote peaceful coexistence within markets and support government initiatives aimed at expanding business opportunities, improving market infrastructure and strengthening the commercial sector.
The APM women wing DG noted that a thriving market system remained essential to economic development, job creation and the livelihood of thousands of families who depend on trading and other commercial activities across the state.
She said the new leadership should build on existing relationships among market stakeholders while ensuring that the concerns of women traders, small-scale business owners and other vulnerable groups received adequate attention.
Dabor further commended the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde for its commitment to development and inclusive governance, expressing optimism that the emergence of the new market leaders would create additional opportunities for collaboration between the government and the trading community across the 33 local government areas.
She maintained that sustained engagement among the government, traditional institutions and market associations would help address challenges facing traders and promote a more conducive business environment.
RAD also congratulated other market leaders who emerged alongside Princess Abeo and Y. K. Abass, urging them to work collectively in the interest of the state’s commercial sector.
She wished the new market leadership success while expressing hope that their era would be marked by unity, progress, innovation and improved welfare for traders throughout Oyo State.
She added that the appointments should inspire renewed commitment to the development of markets as vital centres of economic activity and drivers of prosperity across the state.
