…commiserates with PMS on tragic road accident that claimed lives
The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has convened a high-level engagement with stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibarapa East Local Government Area to brainstorm on issues affecting the party and the geopolitical zone.
The meeting it was gathered is aimed at reinforcing party unity, strengthening grassroots mobilization, and preparing for future elections.
The event, which held during the week in two sessions across different venues in the constituency, brought together a wide array of political actors including ward and local government executives, party leaders, and grassroots mobilizers.
Addressing the party stakeholders, the Speaker conveyed the message of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, assuring party members that the PDP remains united in Oyo State and especially in Ibarapa East.
He emphasized that there would be no division or imposition of candidates as the party prepares for future political contests.
“The message from His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, is very clear. PDP is one. We are united in purpose and we will work together to win all upcoming elections. Candidates will emerge through consensus, not imposition,” Ogundoyin declared.
He further charged members to take voter registration seriously, stressing its importance for the party’s electoral strength.
“We must not joke with the ongoing voter registration. This is our future. Every vote will count, and every new voter strengthens our party’s chances,” he said.
Other chieftains who spoke at the engagements included Hon. Moses Ojoawo, a former Commissioner and Chairman of the Stakeholders Forum; and Chief Adewale Atanda Alase, a member of the Oyo State Advisory Council.
They equally underscored the urgent need for increased voter registration, encouraging members to mobilize youths and first-time voters while assisting those who need to update their records.
Meanwhile, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin has today paid a condolence visit to the leadership of the Park Management System (PMS) in Eruwa following a tragic road accident that claimed seven lives, including that of a PMS member and the medical officer in charge of Lanlate General Hospital.
The crash, which occurred at Osuponri Village near ICT Polytechnic, Itori, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, involved a Toyota bus with number plate KJA 851 YH. The vehicle reportedly suffered a tyre burst, somersaulted several times, and left multiple passengers injured while seven died on the spot.
Among the deceased were Mr. Aremu, the driver of the ill-fated bus and a committed PMS member in Eruwa, as well as Dr. Kolade Oke, the medical officer overseeing Lanlate General Hospital. Other victims were identified as indigenes of Eruwa and Lanlate in Ibarapa East Local Government Area.
Speaking during the condolence visit, Ogundoyin described the incident as a devastating loss for the entire Ibarapa East community.
“We are in mourning. This tragedy has taken away some of our finest—hardworking, responsible individuals who were contributing to the growth of our society.
“My heart goes out to the families of the victims, the entire PMS structure, and the medical community of Lanlate,” the Speaker said.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and quick recovery for those still receiving treatment.
In his response, PMS Chairman in Eruwa, Comrade Sunday Adewuyi, thanked the Speaker for his prompt visit and empathy, noting that the PMS was deeply shaken by the loss of Mr. Aremu and others in the fatal accident.
