The Oyo State Government has issued a travel advisory ahead of the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, scheduled for Friday at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.

In a statement on Thursday, the Security and Traffic Management Team for the event cautioned motorists to avoid Idi-Arere inward Mapo and Beere Roundabout towards Mapo.

Alternative routes include Oranyan, Alekuso, Agbeni, Labiran, Agbongbon, and Kudeti.

The diversion, it added, would be in effect from Thursday, September 25, until the conclusion of the ceremony on Friday, September 26.

Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Agency (OYRTMA), Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd), who issued the advisory, announced parking arrangements for invited dignitaries at Ibadan North Local Government Car Park (Agodi), Liberty Stadium (Oke Ado), and the Open Field behind Yemetu Police Division. Transit buses will convey guests to and from the venue.

Adekoya emphasized that vehicles would not be allowed to park along roads from Gate Bus Stop en route Oje, Beere, and from Oja’ba down to Molete underbridge.

He said: “Non-essential travel through the restricted routes should be avoided. Vehicle movement inward from Beere toward Mapo and from Iyana-Brown inward Mapo will be restricted to prevent gridlock.

“Traffic management personnel and security agencies will be deployed along alternative routes to ensure smooth flow.”

The OYRTMA chairman further warned that violators risk vehicle impoundment and prosecution, assuring that the alternative routes are safe and effective.

“The traffic advisory is part of efforts to ensure a seamless and secure coronation of the 44th Olubadan. Motorists’ cooperation is key to making the occasion a safe and memorable cultural milestone,” he added.
