The Oyo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled a comprehensive Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration Programme.
The Chairman of Oyo ADC Membership Retaliation and Mobilization Programme, Chief Lukman Oyebisi ILAKA, stated that the move was part of the party’s efforts to strengthen its structures and expand its grassroots base across the state ahead of future political contests.
The programme was officially launched during a press briefing held at the Press Centre in Ibadan on Monday, where party leaders and stakeholders gathered to outline the objectives and modalities of the exercise.
In his address, Ilaka said the initiative was designed to reconnect with existing members while opening the party’s doors to new supporters willing to align with its political ideals.
According to Ilaka, membership of the ADC represents more than possession of a party card, noting that it signifies a commitment to accountability, responsible governance and people-centred leadership.
He explained further that the exercise would be conducted across the state to ensure the party maintains a strong and inclusive grassroots presence.
“Oyo State has 351 wards spread across 33 Local Government Areas and about 6,389 polling units. Our goal is to ensure that the registration exercise reaches every ward and polling unit so that our structures remain active and responsive at the grassroots,” Ilaka said.
He therefore, urged party members and interested residents to return to their respective wards and local government areas to participate fully in the exercise.
The committee chairman also encouraged citizens to take advantage of the ongoing digital registration platform introduced by the party, noting that the online process was designed to complement the physical registration and make participation easier for supporters.
To ensure effective implementation of the programme, Ilaka disclosed that committee members have been deployed across the three senatorial districts of the state—Oyo South, Oyo Central and Oyo North—to supervise the registration process.
He added that the digital registration is expected to run for two weeks and will conclude on Sunday.
During the briefing, the state leadership of the party commended the national leadership of the ADC for its commitment to strengthening the party’s structures nationwide.
Particularly praised were the party’s National Chairman, David Mark, and National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, for what the state chapter described as their dedication to repositioning the party for greater political relevance.
He added that additional personnel would be assigned to local government areas and wards to guarantee smooth coordination and ensure that every interested citizen has the opportunity to register.
In their separate remarks, party leaders at the event appealed to residents of Oyo State to support the initiative and join the ADC, describing the programme as a critical step toward building a formidable political movement capable of delivering credible leadership and development.
They maintained that a vibrant and united membership base would position the party strategically as preparations gradually gather momentum for the 2027 general elections.
