A former Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly and current Special Adviser on Legislative Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Adejumobi Samuel, popularly known as Agbarapo, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not be allowed to reclaim power in the state in 2027.
This was as he warned that such a development could reverse the gains recorded under the present administration.
Agbarapo made this known while featuring on a live political programme on Fresh FM, anchored by ace broadcaster Isaac Brown.
The former lawmaker, who is also a governorship aspirant ahead of the 2027 general election, spoke extensively on the political direction of Oyo State and the need to sustain what he described as a legacy of purposeful leadership.
According to him, the state cannot afford what he termed a disruption of continuity, stressing that the progress recorded under Governor Makinde must be protected beyond 2027.
“We will not allow the APC to return to Agodi Government House because they will destroy everything that this administration has built.
“The people of Oyo State have seen the difference, and they understand what is already at stake,” he said.
Drawing a parallel with Lagos, Agbarapo argued that continuity in leadership has been a major factor behind its development trajectory.
“If you look at Lagos today, the success story did not happen by accident. It was built on continuity, consistency, and a clear vision. Oyo State is on that same path under Makinde, and we must not derail that process,” he added.
He further described Governor Makinde as a transformative leader whose governance style has redefined public service in the state.
“Makinde has demonstrated unprecedented visionary leadership and delivery of good governance. His name has become a political institution.
“Wherever he goes, whatever platform he chooses, many of us will follow because our political future and vision are secure under his leadership,” Agbarapo stated.
The governorship aspirant, who hails from Atisbo Local Government Area in the Oke-Ogun zone, has remained one of the vocal defenders of the governor, particularly amid internal challenges within the Peoples Democratic Party.
He maintained that despite the current tensions within the party, loyalty to Makinde’s leadership remains strong among key stakeholders.
Agbarapo also used the opportunity to call for unity within the PDP in Oyo State, urging party members to close ranks and focus on consolidating the achievements of the present administration.
He expressed confidence that with cohesion and strategic planning, the party would retain power in 2027 and continue what he described as a people-oriented governance model.
