The Ogun State High Court sitting in Sagamu has directed a former governor of the state, Senator Gbenga Daniel, to submit the documents requested by the state government within two weeks.
At the resumed hearing of Suit No: HCS/371/2025 on Tuesday, Justice O. S. Oloyede ordered Daniel to comply with the request made by the government.
The court noted that other residents in the affected area had also been served similar notices.
During proceedings, O.T. Olaotan, Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, who represented the government alongside R.B. Kadiri (DCL), A.E. Odukoya, and W.A. Onawole, informed the court that an interlocutory injunction and counter-affidavits had been filed in response to Daniel’s motion and duly served on the claimants’ counsel.
The government’s legal team argued that the matter was not yet ripe for hearing and that the court was not inclined to proceed with the application at this stage.
On the other hand, counsel for the claimants, A.O. Kotoye (SAN), with O.T. Are and A.O. Adeniyi, applied for an extension of the interim order earlier granted by the court, which was due to lapse after seven days.
The defence, however, urged the court to direct the claimants to use the two-week extension already announced by the government to provide the Ministry of Physical Planning with the required documents, stressing that other residents had begun to comply.
In his ruling, Justice Oloyede ordered all parties to maintain the status quo and explore amicable settlement options.
He further directed the claimants to take advantage of the extension and submit the necessary papers as demanded by the government.
Both parties later agreed to an adjournment, with the court fixing October 13, 2025, for the hearing of the pending applications.
