The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has called on leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party to close ranks and work collectively towards restoring unity within the party and delivering quality, people focused leadership across the country.
Ogundoyin made the call following a series of strategic engagements of the PDP Southwest leadership held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, which he attended alongside prominent party leaders from the region.
In a post on his official Facebook page, the Oyo Speaker said the meetings were deliberately focused on strengthening party structures and deepening internal cohesion across the six states of the Southwest.
According to him, the engagements began with a visit to welcome decampees from other political parties in Ogun State, led by the former governorship candidate of the PDP in the state, Dr. Adedipupo Adebutu, describing the development as a sign of renewed confidence in the party.
He noted that the highlight of the day was the Southwest PDP Stakeholders Meeting, which attracted leaders and elected office holders from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti states.
Ogundoyin said he was privileged to attend the meeting alongside members of the House of Representatives from Oyo State, former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the National Secretary of the PDP, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, the Southwest PDP Chairman, Hon. Kamorudeen Ajisafe, as well as other notable party stalwarts.
“These engagements reaffirm our collective resolve to strengthen the PDP in the Southwest and across Nigeria, while building a more united, inclusive and people focused political platform,” the Speaker stated.
He added that the party’s prospects remain bright if leaders remain committed to collaboration, internal democracy and shared responsibility.
“The future looks bright for our party, and by working together, we will restore hope and deliver quality leadership to our people,” Ogundoyin said.
The Speaker’s remarks aligns with an earlier comments credited to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, at the same Southwest PDP stakeholders meeting, where the governor reportedly stressed the need for unity, discipline and collective purpose as the pathway to repositioning the party as a credible alternative at both regional and national levels.
Makinde had urged party leaders to rise above internal divisions and personal interests, noting that only a united PDP can effectively respond to the expectations of Nigerians and reclaim its leadership role.
