A foremost Oyo State sociopolitical group, GSM Advocates, has declared that Governor Seyi Makinde’s governance model offers a practical blueprint for rebuilding Nigeria from the grassroots to all parts of the country.
The group cited the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and economic development as evidence of what it described as “results-driven leadership.”
The Deputy Director of GSM Advocates in the state, Bashorun ‘Saintabey’ Adeniji, made the assertion in a press statement in Ibadan on Saturday, where he maintained that the Oyo State governor had demonstrated that purposeful governance anchored on planning, accountability and data-driven policies could transform both states and the nation.
According to him, the administration’s seven-year record has moved beyond campaign promises to measurable development outcomes across critical sectors.
“Governor Seyi Makinde is on a mission to reset Nigeria, and the evidence is already visible through the good work being done in Oyo State,” Adeniji said.
“We are not talking about what may happen in the future. We are talking about roads that have been completed, hospitals that have been upgraded, schools that have been renovated and young people who have found opportunities through deliberate government policies.”
He identified the ongoing 110-kilometre Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project as one of the administration’s most significant legacy initiatives, describing it as a transformative infrastructure project that is opening new frontiers for housing, commerce, industrial development and agriculture around Ibadan.
Adeniji also highlighted the completion of the Iseyin-Ogbomoso Road, the expansion of the Challenge-Orita Challenge corridor and the construction of rural roads connecting farming communities to major markets, saying the projects were improving economic activities and easing transportation across the state.
On healthcare, the GSM Advocates deputy director commended the government for upgrading and equipping more than 200 Primary Healthcare Centres to Level 2 standard across the state’s 33 local government areas, alongside the recruitment of thousands of doctors, nurses and other health professionals.
He said the interventions had significantly improved access to quality healthcare, particularly in rural communities at the grassroots.
Speaking on education, Adeniji praised the recruitment of over 7,000 teachers, the renovation of public schools and the distribution of free textbooks and exercise books to pupils, describing education as a central pillar of the administration’s development agenda.
He argued that the sustained investment in the sector was already producing positive outcomes in public schools across the state.
The sociopolitical group also applauded the government’s economic policies, particularly in agriculture, pointing to the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub, the development of farm estates and support for smallholder farmers as initiatives designed to stimulate food production, create jobs and attract investments.
He added that the Omituntun Mass Transit Scheme had provided relief to residents through affordable transportation while simultaneously generating employment opportunities.
According to Adeniji, one of the defining features of the Makinde administration is the equitable distribution of development projects across Oyo State, rather than concentrating investments in selected urban centres.
“What distinguishes the Oyo economic model is fairness in governance. Development is spread across the three senatorial districts and all the 33 local government areas.
“Resetting Nigeria will not come through slogans or rhetoric. It will come from leaders who have demonstrated capacity and delivered measurable results that are visible to every resident in their states.
“This is the Makinde Doctrine; plan with data, invest in infrastructure, put people first and remain accountable. If this model is replicated across the federation, Nigeria can witness meaningful transformation within a single tenure,” he said.
Adeniji disclosed that GSM Advocates, which is a sociopolitical group focused on monitoring good governance as directly impacting citizens and residents of the state, said the body would soon commence a nationwide engagement aimed at showcasing Oyo State’s development model while promoting performance-based leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He urged Nigerians to assess political leaders based on their records of service rather than ethnic, religious or partisan considerations.
“When people can see results, there is little need for propaganda. The work being done in Oyo State is already speaking for itself, and it is speaking loudly,” he added.
Governor Makinde, who is serving his second term, has consistently maintained that his administration is focused on delivering sustainable infrastructure and institutional reforms capable of outliving his tenure, with ongoing investments in roads, healthcare, education, agribusiness and economic expansion.
